What Camera should I buy?
Its very tempting to go out and buy an expensive shiny new one, but why not just buy a second hand pro cam, something like a Canon 20d, remember its only a few years ago that this camera was a great little back up for any pro. Get used to how it feels, play around with the settings, but don’t get hung up what they all do, after all its about taking pictures. If you are new to this type of camera (DSLR) just pop it onto the little green box setting and off you go. This camera will teach you basic focusing skills and will give you fantastic images to learn with.

The power of the polaroid….
You remember polaroids right? Its probably one of my first experiences with photography, the anticipation of waiting for the image to appear in front of your eyes. How amazing an image ready in seconds that can be given as a gift. Families at the airport waving goodbye to grandparents, quick lets have a photo and here you go take it with you, you sit on the plane wipe a tear from your eye as you stare and hold your polaroid. To me this is more romantic than flipping through a vast amount of images on the latest compact digital, nothing wrong with this but not as cool. Also remember I am talking about 30 years ago how amazing the polaroid was….
What we should all learn…
The best thing about a polaroid film was you only got 10 shots and it was quite expensive to use. Why is that a good thing? well it made you think about what you were about to take, you paused looked for the best angle made sure everyone was in view and positioned in an appealing way, not rapidly fire off 20 shots and hope for a good one cause its free right? Yes it maybe, but where has the skill gone? what are we teaching the next generation. As photographers of any skill we should inspire others, make them passionate about this art form one piece of advice buy them a polaroid camera and let them create….

Well here is our very first post, our mission is to create a fun and enjoyable learning experience for people starting out in photography. The idea is that we will be going back to basics, its not about what equipment you have its about the final image and how it is created. I encourage you to ask questions, find snippets of useful information and share it with the community.
